More star knots - now with
five, six & seven petals

It’s a simple and bold star
with a roundy center.

One of my first star ideas I laid down in the early 90s. When I started exploring Celtic Knots properly - I started exploring with the simplest knots, by the numbers: You can’t do much with one side - it’s just a line. Two sides, you get the Infinity knot. With three sides you naturally come upon a triangle.

Another 5-petaled star just with a slightly different design. Sharper corners.

Then moving up to 4 sides [a square], naturally followed by 5 sides [a star], with 6, 7, 8 sides, all being stars too - and onward toward infinity [you’ll never get there btw].

The simplest of star knots - two interlocking triangles: Known in Hebrew as Magen David or Shield of David. A symbol of Jewish cultural identity and unity.

Another rendition of the Star of David - this time I wanted to see the relationship between the two triangles so I shaded one.

Dáithí - Da-hee - is an Irish first name that translates as swiftness or nimbleness. It translates: David.

TheDavyStar is two double
intertwined triangles.

TheBankStar

2013 | South Boston | 7" x 7"

This star has one more petal [7] than the David star [6] - means it could not be two lines - but one continuous line. The odd number - by the nature of numbers - unites the two triangles.

Almost identical to the previous star - except it has fewer crossings.
