I was trying to highlight that which is hidden: The dark ring holding the whole thing together. As seen through the slatted structure.

These knots are part of the penance that this project became. They were originally all blue. But after a few years I decided to see what they would look like with a little colour.

Re-working these by adding colour turned out far better than expected.
